The International Folk Music and Dance Camp, founded in 1991, reached its 33rd edition in 2025. For over three decades, the camp has brought together folk enthusiasts from the country and abroad, offering them an authentic experience of learning the dances, music, and traditions of Kalotaszeg (Țara Călatei).
The event is focusing on teaching folk songs, traditional dances, and instrumental folk music. Participants also have the opportunity to explore the traditional folk art of the Kalotaszeg region, while the program includes visits to local tourist attractions, as well as lectures and book launches on the area’s ethnographic heritage.
Dance classes are organized into four groups: beginners, intermediate, advanced, and a special group for children from the village and neighboring communities. On the final day, a celebration is held featuring craft workshops and a folk art fair, concluding with an open-air gala performance.
The quality of the classes is ensured by renowned instructors from Romania and abroad. Current and former instructors include: György Károly, choreographer from Budapest; Zsuráfszky Zoltán, Kossuth Prize laureate and honored as “Artist of the Nation”; Muszka György and Muszka Ilona, well-known dance instructors; Könczei Csongor, educator and researcher in folk studies, collaborator of the Romanian Institute for Research on National Minorities; and Tálas Ágnes Judit, folk dance lecturer.
